Patience and Determination, my dear...

Why be introduced to the phrase "patience is a virtue," but not "determination is a virtue" as well? The quality of being patient isn't always considered to be a good one. What we don't know about ourselves is that sometimes we may be overly patient, constantly allowing things to happen we know we should've discontinued a long time ago, or constantly putting things off thinking we'll have time to accomplish it later rather than now. 

Using myself as an example, growing up in a family with uncles who were radio hosts and a dad who was the State Representative, I automatically knew I wanted to follow their footsteps and become a rhetorician. Except instead of basing my love for the art around speaking publicly, I chose to be a writer. I chose to express my thoughts in a manner I didn't think I had the balls to. It's scary, I'll admit. Having people read what I write and wondering what they're thinking or going back and telling their friends. But the "me" now, I said screw it and went for what I loved. I always knew writing was an activity I wanted to pursue and I also knew that I had to start building a portfolio, but if we're being honest, I was too patient with myself. 

Each year my attention would somehow be averted away and I would find myself saying, "I could always start next year.” Except next year turned into me attending college, watching everyone around me constantly advance in what they love. Looking to the right, those were the painters. Looking to the left, there goes all my classmates who master the art of music, whether they play an instrument, DJ, or rap, everyone all had their thing while I felt like I lost mine. Although it took me a while to resurface...  you are now reading and witnessing the exact moment I decided to fully pursue MY thing. So no, it’s not too late for you to pursue yours. 

Task of the day: Don't think waiting for what you want to happen will make it happen any quicker. Don't just be patient, also be determined. This way more moves will be made !
